چکیده

Background: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a disease involving the esophagus due to an immune system reaction and has clinical symptoms similar gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). Currently, only definitive way diagnose this endoscopy biopsy of esophageal tissue. Objectives: In study, we investigated diagnostic value ultrasound differentiate EoE from GERD normal patterns. addition, assessed possibility replacing with invasive endoscopic method for diagnosis follow-up EoE. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 4-12-year-old children in three groups definitely diagnosed GERD, EoE, healthy controls. Each group consisted 30 participants who were evaluated parameters. The obtained values compared between groups. sensitivity specificity findings determined by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. Results: Ultrasound findings, including wall thickness distensibility cervical abdominal esophagus, gastric thickness, diameter had significant differences highest mean ± SD 2.73 0.66 mm, 4.30 0.79 2.32 1.21 mm. lowest esophagus. On other hand, area under (AUC) discriminating controls 0.83 0.80 respectively. Moreover, AUCs 0.71 Conclusions: Although significantly different control group, ability discriminate moderate (0.70

Cow’s Milk Sensitization in Young Children with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Introduction:: Recent reports have suggested that gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is link with cow’s milk allergy (CMA) in children. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of CMA in young children with GERD.Materials and Methods: This cross- sectional study included 33 children (median age, 2.93±1.90 years) with GERD according to a valid gastroesophageal reflux questionnair...

Eosinophilic esophagitis in patients with typical gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms refractory to proton pump inhibitor

BACKGROUND TREATMEN The contribution of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) to refractory gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) remains unknown. When EoE and GERD overlap, the clinical, endoscopic and histological findings are nonspecific and cannot be used to distinguish between the two disorders. Limited data are available on this topic, and the interaction between EoE and GERD is a matter of deb...

Gastroesophageal reflux disease in children.

Reflux of gastric contents is common in young infants but usually self-limiting and not pathological. Gastroesophageal reflux disease refers to persistent reflux due to pathological factors that results in significant symptoms. Patients may exhibit oesophagitis, bleeding, nutritional failure, or respiratory problems. A high index of suspicion must thus be maintained for all patients. The aim of...

The study of the serum levels of IL-10 and TGF-beta1 in children with eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders compared to children with gastroesophageal reflux disease and healthy controls

Background: Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGID) are a heterogeneous group of GI disorders, associated with an increase of the eosinophils in the gastrointestinal mucosal tissue. Regulatory T cells (Tregs), as a subset of T cells with proven prominent role in immunopathology and protection against allergic diseases, appear to play a role in EGID pathogenesis. In the present study, ser...
